Jason Donavan returns to Nottingham

Notts TV caught up with Jason Donovan to talk about his role in the musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Jason, who is playing the role of Tick for the third time in his career said: “I think Priscilla is a modern musical, there is an audience out there that wants new stories, stories that are relevant to our generation.”

The musical is based on the Australian movie about three friends who venture onto a battered old bus in the search for love and friendship but get more than they bargained for along the way.

Walking in heels is second nature

Jason said: “Priscilla is about a bunch of misfits. It’s a little bit dark, but it’s also very bright and has a wonderful heart, it appeals to a lot of people.”

As well as colour characters the show has an array of outrageous costumes.

Jason said: “I have been doing this for so many years now that, it’s almost second nature, walking heels is just like putting on a pair of shoes to me, it’s just part of the character.”

The musical has its final outing at the Royal Concert Hall on Saturday night.
