Pickle was dumped out with the rubbish in Mansfield

A kitten dumped in a bin in Nottinghamshire was only rescued when a member of the public heard her cries as they walked by.

The 8-10 week old female black kitten, who’s been named Pickle by RSPCA staff, was found in a rubbish bin at a children’s play area in Litton Road, Mansfield, on Monday (June 12) at around 12.40pm.

Inspectors say a passerby heard the kitten crying and followed the sound to the bin. When he reached inside, he was ‘shocked’ to find the kitten had been dumped there.

RSPCA officer Paula Jones collected Pickle and took her to a vets for treatment.

She said: “She was undernourished and in a very thin condition, suffering from fleas and ear mites.

“It is horrible to think someone could abandon this young kitten and throw her out like rubbish.

“I don’t believe she could have entered the bin on her own so it would appear as though she was dumped there by someone.”

Pickle was treated by vets and, as she had no microchip, is now in foster care while she recovers.

The RSPCA is appealing for anyone who may have information on how the kitten came to be abandoned to contact the inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018 and reference Inspector Keith Ellis.
