Lee Froch will fight at the Nottingham Arena five years after brother Carl waved goodbye to the venue by defending his world super-middleweight title against Yusaf Mack.

Lee ‘The Renovator’ Froch will take to the ring on September 29 and is currently undefeated in eight fights after making his European Boxing Federation debut in 2015.

The event will also feature other local fighters including Jack Mantell, Sam Godfrey and Rob ‘Big Red’ Lamont.

Other fights on the night will involve Andy Flint v Paul Stephenson, Tim Sobers v Paul Thompson, Calum Reeve v George Farell and Jack Fletcher v Dan Treacy.

Carl added intrigue to the announcement by tweeting he would fight the winner of Lee’s fight – but it was unclear if the Cobra was being serious about coming out of retirement.

Carl fought at a limit of 168 pounds or 76kg. As a heavyweight, Lee is in a division where the minimum weight is 200 pounds or 90kg.

On November 17 2012 Carl retained his IBF super-middleweight title with a third round stoppage when fighting American Yusaf Mack, in what was to be his last appearance at the arena before hanging up his gloves in 2015.
