A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a city centre shooting in which a woman was shot in the arm.

The woman was hurt on Fletcher Gate at around 10.20pm on Saturday (November 3) after a man on a moped opened fire towards Das Kino bar before riding off.

She was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment with non life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.

Police cordoned off the area around the bar after the incident and forensic officers spent most of Sunday morning examining the scene.

Notts Police Assistant Chief Constable Kate Meynell said on Sunday evening: “Detectives are currently pursuing a number of lines of enquiry and we are interested to speak to anyone who was in the area at around that time, particularly around the Das Kino bar.

“A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life in connection with the incident, but our enquiries continue to establish the exact circumstances.

“We know that a man on a moped drove up Fletcher Gate and fired shots towards Das Kino, one of which injured a woman, who has since been released from hospital.

“At this time, we believe this was a targeted attack, but the injured woman was not the intended target. We are supporting her and her family.”

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 952 of November 3, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
