Man attempted to rob Carlton newsagents – but left ’empty handed’

Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a Carlton newsagents – after a man left the shop ’empty handed’ on Monday evening (June 26).

Notts Police say a man entered Carlton News, Foxhill Road East, around 9pm yesterday.

The man is thought to have been carrying an item wrapped in a carrier bag.

A force spokesman said: “He walked up to within the staff counter area, demanding money from the till.

“The shop worker, who was on his own in the store, challenged the offender and he left empty handed but some damage was caused to the stock.”

Police say the offender was dressed completely in dark clothes and is believed to have a local accent, and he fled the scene towards Beck Street.
