Man charged with murder in connection with city centre stabbing

A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of another man in Nottingham city centre.

Ethan Austin, of Mayo Road, Nottingham, faces the charge in connection with the death of  Lee Daniel Roy Cooper on Union Road earlier this month.

Austin is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (September 25), and his case was sent to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday (September 26).

Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Union Road at about 7.40pm on Saturday, September 14 2019. Mr Cooper, 28, was tended to at the scene but died soon after.

A 75-year-old man who was arrested on Monday (September 23) on suspicion of assisting an offender has been subsequently released under investigation.
