Man dies following serious crash on A1 in Nottinghamshire

A man has died following a serious crash on the A1 in Nottinghamshire at around 12.30am on Thursday (October 5) morning.
The collision happened near the Markham Moor Services where a van left the road and crashed into a stationary Land Rover in a layby.
The van driver is a foreign national who has not yet been formally identified.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash – the male Land Rover driver suffered minor injuries.
The collision led to the closure of the northbound road between North Muskham and Tuxford for several hours.
The road did not re-open until 11.30am the same morning and drivers were urged to avoid the area.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments before or after it, and anyone with dashcam footage, to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously, quoting incident number 14 of October 5.
