A 30-year-old man from St Ann’s has pleaded guilty to murdering 21-year-old Reuben Morris-Laing after stabbing him.

Remee Jarrett, 30, of Kelveden Gardens, also admitted attempted wounding with intent to cause serious injury to another man, also aged 21, during the same incident at Nottingham Crown Court today (Friday December 22).

Officers were called to reports of a stabbing at a shop in Robin Hood Street in St Ann’s just after 9.25pm on Wednesday March 22 and found Reuben Morris-Laing outside with a single stab wound to the abdomen.

He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre where he was later pronounced dead.

The second victim’s identity became known to police after he attended the QMC with a stab wound to his arm just before 1.30am on March 23.

Jarrett had previously denied murdering Morris-Laing, as well as the attempted murder of and attempted wounding with intent of the second victim and was due to face trial next year.

However, he attended Nottingham Crown Court today to admit the murder.

He pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder charge but admitted the lesser charge of attempted wounding with intent.

Jarrett’s girlfriend Loretta Denning, 22, of Glendon Drive, Hucknall, was also charged with assisting an offender in connection with the incident but no evidence was offered against her today.

Jarrett was remanded in custody to appear at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on January 19 2018.
