Man being questioned after Kirkby woman dies from stab wounds

Detectives are continuing to question a man on suspicion of murdering a woman found with stab wounds in a quiet Notts street.

The victim died on the way to hospital after an incident on Gleneages Drive at around 11pm on Saturday.

Emergency services say they were called to reports of a fight and found the woman with stab wounds.

A 32-year-old man was also taken to hospital with stab wounds. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody being questioned. Police have not yet released the name of the victim.

Local people have been posting messages of support to the woman’s family on Facebook and neighbours said they had been left stunned by the incident.

Hayley Boulton from Kirkby wrote: “RIP to the poor lady that lost her life, sending condolences to her family and friends at this sad time.”

And Joanna Hess wrote: “I can’t believe this has happened I bet her whole family are very, very upset and sending hugs and condolences and love to the family.”

Notts Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who knows anything about the incident to contact them on 101.
