Nottinghamshire Police say a man safely left Clifton Bridge after a four-hour incident closed the A52 on Sunday night.
The road was closed completely after a call to the emergency services about concern for the man’s safety just before 7.15pm. Officers closed the road inbound from the Nottingham Knight island to Clifton Bridge and in the opposite direction between the Queen’s Medical Centre and the bridge.
The A453 before the bridge was also closed, with traffic directed down Wilford Lane.
Nottinghamshire Police said the incident ended at around 11.25pm. A force spokesman said: “Roads have re-opened following the safe conclusion of an incident in which officers were concerned for a man’s safety on Clifton Bridge.
“The man has been safely detained and taken to hospital.
“Officers would like to thank people travelling in the area for their patience while roads were closed.”
