Over 180 volunteers will be attending the Big Snore sleep out on Saturday at the One Call stadium to raise money to help the homeless.
The volunteers will create homes for the night from cardboard, hear speeches from charity representatives and reflect on the difficulties faced by homeless people.
There will also be musical acts and entertainers before everyone settles down to sleep without all the usual home comforts.
Louise Darby, fundraising manager at Framework said: “The Mansfield Big Snore does an incredibly important job in raising funds to help tackle homelessness.”
Waiting lists
“Funds last year were used to run a project which helped almost 40 homeless individuals to escape homelessness for good: more quickly and more effectively.”
She added that Frameworks’s Sherwood Street Centre is always full and waiting lists can go well beyond double figures.
“We have a desperate and worsening situation in Mansfield with people coming to Sherwood Street and asking for help every single day – the Big Snore is an important part of helping to meet that need.”
