Video: Christian Hewgill reports on the latest managerial saga at Meadow Lane

Mark Cooper has been unveiled as Forest Green’s manager less than 48 hours after leaving Notts County.

Cooper announced on Saturday he was leaving Meadow Lane following the end of a contract which initially took him to the end of the season.

On Monday he was presented as the new boss of National League side Forest Green Rovers.

Cooper had been working at Meadow Lane with a view to a permanent deal being offered subject to review of his performance.

But Notts County said in a statement Cooper had opted to leave following the club’s 5-0 League Two home defeat to Carlisle United on Saturday.

On taking up the job at Forest Green Cooper said: “I’m excited to be joining a club with a clear aim and strategy on where it wants to go and how it wants to get there.

“There are not many opportunities to join a club that has that foresight – a lot of clubs are run day to day and don’t plan for the future.

“These clubs may be bigger clubs in stature, but this is a big club in the way it is looking forward.”
