Memorial held for Woodthorpe Road crash victim

A memorial for 19 year old Bryony Hollands was held today at Mapperley Methodist Church.

“Let us remember her friends and family on this very sad day” – these are the words which were spoken in the service dedicated to Bryony Hollands this morning.

The 19 year old student was visiting her boyfriend in Nottingham, when she was hit by a car on Woodthorpe Road last month.

Bryony’s funeral took place in her hometown of Maidenhead today, but Reverend David Monkton thought it was only right for the local community to also pay their respects.

He said: “The death of Bryony Hollands was a serious shock to the community, this is a way of helping the family with our prayers and our thoughts”.

Donations were made today to a music therapy charity, Nordoff Robbins. The charity has been chosen by Bryony’s family to raise money in her memory.

26-year-old Thomas Burney, pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court last week to causing death by dangerous driving. He will be sentenced on the 23rd October.
