Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, wind, weather, warning, met office

A yellow weather warning of wind has been issued by the Met Office for the whole of Nottinghamshire.

The warning starts at 9pm today (Wednesday October 4) and lasts until 9am tomorrow (Thursday October 5) morning.

Westerly winds are expected to bring gusts of 40-50mph and locally into the 60s.

In addition, rain will be heavy at times, especially over northwest England and north Wales.

While this weather is not unusual for the time of year, it brings the potential for disruption to transport, tree damage and temporary power cuts.

The chief forecaster’s assessment said: “An area of low pressure crossing northern UK overnight will bring a swathe of strong winds on its southern flank, clearing latest from eastern areas.”
