A 14-year-old girl who sparked a national Child Rescue Alert after she went missing from her home in Chilwell has been found safe and well.

Charlotte Bainbridge was reported missing from her home on the outskirts of Nottingham on Tuesday morning.

Police say the teenager returned home in the early hours of Tuesday morning, at around 3am.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police have visited Charlotte’s home to ensure she is well.

A force spokesman tweeted:

“Charlotte Bainbridge now safe and well at home. Thanks to all who helped promote our appeal.”

Child Rescue Alert, run by the National Crime Agency and the Missing People charity, is a national system which uses websites, emails and text messages to aid the return of missing children in the UK.

The scheme launched last year and has been backed by charities and missing girl Madeline McCann’s parents, Gerry and Kate McCann.
