A team of MPs will take on some of the University of Nottingham’s brightest professors in a battle of the intellects.
As part of Nottingham in Parliament day on Tuesday, the University Challenge-style event will take place in the House of Commons and will see speaker of the Commons, Rt Hon John Bercow MP, quiz the two teams.
The sides will have their general knowledge tested in the State Rooms, in the Speakers’ Apartments of the Houses of Parliament.
Team House of Commons, captained by minister for universities and science, Jo Johnson MP, also includes Anna Soubry, the Broxtowe MP, plus Chris Bryant, Stella Creasy, and Jess Phillips.
Team University of Nottingham, meanwhile, is made up of vice-chancellor and chair of the Russell Group of Universities, Sir David Greenaway, registrar Dr Paul Greatrix and professor and vice-chancellor for education, Sarah O’Hara.
Professor and vice-chancellor for social sciences, Todd Landman, who is also a magician, completes the team with rights and justice expert, professor Zoe Trodd.
Sir David Greenaway, said: “This one-off battle of the intellects will be a fun and light-hearted part of Nottingham in Parliament day 2016.
“The day will bring together all the very best elements of Nottingham as a city, a business hub, a home of civic institutions and a pioneer of cultural heritage – and we at the University of Nottingham are looking forward to showcasing the best of the university, and the best of Nottingham on a national stage throughout the day.”
There will be 45 events going on throughout the day, celebrating the ideas, people and business that make Nottingham great.
