Murder investigation launched over man’s death in car

The death of a man who was found at the wheel of a car in Newark town centre is being treated as murder.
Notts Police say 999 services were called to a ‘medical emergency’ on Lombard Street just after 5pm on Monday.
The incident involved a man at the wheel of a car, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
In an update on Tuesday (June 17), the force said detectives had reason to believe the man may have been murdered, and are urging witnesses to come forward.
Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time, and they will be supported by our specially trained officers.
“A team of detectives is now working to understand exactly what happened in the time before and during this incident.
“To this end they want to hear from anyone who saw or heard any part of what happened.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 737 of June 16 2025. Information can also be passed in confidence to Crimestoppers.
