A Nottingham woman who survived breast cancer survivor is taking on a charity skydive to raise money for charity Maggie’s.

Mary Cort beat the disease in 2014, and is taking part in a tandem skydive on Sunday from 10,000 feet above ground level.

The 62-year old from Aspley is keen to raise as much money as she can as a thank you for support offered to her during and after her treatment from the Maggie’s centre at Nottingham’s City Hospital. Mary-Cort-at-Maggie's

She said: “Maggie’s not only offer financial support for cancer sufferers, but also significant amounts of emotional support too. I missed work a lot during my time off, especially my colleagues who have been incredibly supportive.

“I knew I wanted to do something big to raise money for Maggie’s, so when I saw that they organised skydives, that was it, my mind was made up there and then and I had to do it. As soon as my mind is made up, I don’t look back.”

Mary has worked for bus firm Nottingham City Transport for 24 years.

She started at the Trent Bridge Garage before working at King Street Canteen and then the driver’s canteen on Angel Row, where she is currently based.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, Mary worked throughout her ix months of chemotherapy treatment until her operation in October of the same year.

She then took six months off and is now part-time again at Angel Row Canteen.

Mary is running a crowd funding page to collect donations.
