A new car park in the city centre will be ready ‘in time for Christmas’ following the closures of Broadmarsh and Unity Square car parks.
Nottingham City Council will establish a new car park at the Island Site, near the BBC roundabout.
The local authority expects the site to be helpful for shoppers, people working in and around the area and for visitors coming to the city.
Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Public Transport Councillor Sally Longford said: “We are pleased to be adding to the parking offer in the city particularly given what the City Council can offer people travelling to the city over the Christmas period.
“Nottingham has more than 8,000 parking spaces across the city centre to enable people to park in the city for commuting, shopping or leisure.
“Our Christmas moratorium means you should be able to get into the city without being stopped by roadworks over the festive period.”
The Ecolink bus service will also stop at the new car park.
