New Year’s Eve in Nottingham: Travel news and best events to see in 2017

Nottingham is ready to welcome 2017 with spectacular fireworks displays, live music and special party events.

And Nottingham City Transport is once again running its New Year’s Eve services, with late night buses running through until 3.15 am.

Night buses will run to various destinations across the city including Clifton, West Bridgford, Mapperley, the Meadows, Wollaton Vale, Beeston, Sherwood and others.

Events in the city include a free entry celebration and fireworks displays at Nottingham Castle, with music, fire performers and food stalls, starting at 8pm.

The celebration at the castle will have a limited capacity of 2,500 people and visitors will be admitted on a first come, first-served basis.

Bars and pubs across the city will also offer a wide choice of events.

The Southbank Bar will hold a New Year’s Eve ball with live music and a welcome drink and food before 9pm, while at the Malt Cross the band Electric Jalaba will lead a Moroccan groove fest party.

And for those who feel more sophisticated, the New Year’s Eve Gala Concert will take place at the Royal Concert Hall.

East Midlands’ orchestra Sinfonia Viva and 2016 BBC Young Musician of the Year, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, from Nottingham, will start playing at 6pm and take the audience through the night with a mix of classical music and contemporary pieces.

Last trains for Mansfield will leave Nottingham at 22.05 and 23.05 pm, whereas the last train for Newark will leave the city at 21.24.
