Newark man charged following arrest for firearms offences

Nottinghamshire Police have arrested a man on suspicion of firearms offences after a disturbance on Saturday night in Newark.

Police were called to a block of flats at Yorke Drive on the evening of Saturday 19 September.

The block of flats had been cordoned off by armed police following an earlier incident, and the man was arrested after being stopped in his car near the scene.

Viktor Stura, 44, is alleged to have had a gun under his seat when he was arrested and has consequently been charged with a number of offences including possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, possession of a firearm and affray.

Stura will appear before magistrates today.
