Nottingham city centre pub recovering after kitchen fire

The Castle pub has been left to pick up the pieces after a fire broke out in the establishments kitchen on Thursday.

Six firefighter crews rushed to the pub, which is situated on Castle road, opposite the entrance to Nottingham Castle just before 10:30am on Thursday.

The fire initially spread to the first and second floors. No one was hurt as the restaurant was just opening up when the fire started.

Chris Bulaitis, Managing Director of the ever so sensible group, which runs the Castle pub, was relieved that no one was hurt.

The kitchen is inoperable at the moment, and will need a really good clean out, we’re hoping that we’ll get the pub up and trading again.

Chris also praised the staff for their behaviour during the fire and thanked Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service for responding so quickly.

The crews used an aerial ladder and thermal imaging technology to ascertain whether the fire had spread further upwards.

There was limited damage to the grade two listed building.

The cinema in the pub however was effected by the smoke and will need a thorough clean out until it is fully operable again.

It was a severe fire in the kitchen of an old building and our crews got to it straight away.

The Blaze was eventually put out by crews at 12:32pm, over two hours after it started.
