Nottingham Forest owner issues statement after Derby clash

Nottingham Forest chairman and owner, Fawaz Al Hasawi,  has issued a statement after his car was vandalised by rival supporters following his side’s victory over Derby County.

Thanks to a Ben Osborn winner, Forest secured a last-gasp 2-1 victory over their fierce rivals at the iPro Stadium on Saturday afternoon – and the Derby fans clearly weren’t happy with the result.

With tensions mounting in the stands, one Rams fan attempted to enter the field of play and punch Forest’s Kelvin Wilson.

The bad blood continued after the match when it emerged that a set of furious Derby County fans targeted Al Hasawi’s vehicle.

Despite having his car trashed, the Forest owner remained fairly calm.

He tweeted: “Very professional! But in the end I don’t mind at all! The 3 points are more important.”

Fawaz Al Hasawi has now followed this up by issuing a statement on the Nottingham Forest website where he thanks supporters of both sides.

I would like to express my gratitude to everyone, Red or Ram, for their support after my vehicle was vandalised at the iPro Stadium on Saturday.
It was fantastic to receive messages from both sets of supporters and I would like to stress my understanding that the intentions of mindless vandals doesn’t reflect those of Derby County as a whole.
I hope everyone of a Red persuasion is enjoying the victory.
Fawaz.
