Nottingham has lost out in the bid to be the home of one of Channel 4’s new ‘creative hubs’.
Nottingham made the shortlist in May to be considered as one of the channel’s two new ‘creative hubs’.
But the broadcaster has now announced it will progress with just three cities, which are Cardiff, Glasgow and Bristol.
Nottingham was one of six cities bidding for one of two creative hubs alongside Belfast, Brighton, Newcastle-Gateshead, Sheffield and Stoke-on-Trent.
Channel 4 is also looking for a new headquarters after the channel leaves London in 2019, another bid which Nottingham lost out on.
That bid is now between Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds with the final results of all movements to be released in October.
Chief Executive of Marketing NG Brendan Moffett said: “We are disappointed not to be shortlisted.
“We know the city has a very strong offer for creative businesses evidenced by recent high growth in the sector.
“The Channel 4 bidding process has significantly raised the profile of the city’s capabilities and will undoubtedly help us to attract many other creative and digital businesses to the city.
“We are looking forward to hearing where the HQ and creative hubs will be based and ensure that we work closely with them to maximise on all regional commissioning opportunities that arise.”
The city’s bid to be a Creative Hub was put together by Invest in Nottingham with a range of partners including CMG, Broadway and Nottingham Trent University.
It was backed by filmmakers Shane Meadows and Vicky McClure.
