Nottingham mum and daughter feed 200 people for Christmas

No one should have to spend Christmas alone – that’s the message from a Nottingham mother and daughter who fed nearly two hundred people on Christmas Day.

Mo Fayose and daughter Ebbyy Adereti ran a series of free events on the day across the city.

They those who are either lonely, without family or homeless to their free festive dinners.

Around 200 people tucked into the food at St Mark’s Church Hall, Woodthorpe, and Bestwood Park Community Centre.

Mo said: “Being alone at Christmas can affect your mental health. You won’t feel you are part of the community any more.

“A lady contacted me and said I’m drinking and I’m dreading Christmas Day so this will help me keep away from drinking.”

Mo has been putting signs up inviting people to come along.

Ebbyy said: “Helping people and meeting them – that’s a present in itself really.”

Among other people putting on community dinners were Gary and Anna Patel, owners of the Clock Pub and Restaurant in Bobber’s Mill.

“We’ve been doing it for four years,” said Anna.

“There were some lonely people in the community who didn’t have anyone for Christmas lunch, who had no family, so we thought we’d give something back.”
