Watch: Nottingham nightclub changes security firm after bouncer punches man in the head

Video: The incident was caught on video outside the Lace Market venue. Warning: Contains scenes some people may find upsetting.

Nottingham’s Propaganda nightclub has changed its security supplier after a bouncer was videoed punching a man in the head outside the venue.

In the clip, which the club said was filmed around a month ago but which circulated around Facebook over the weekend, a man is carried out of the venue by three people and ends up on the floor.

While he is still trying to get back on his feet, a doorman punches him to the temple, sending him back to the floor.

The man then gets up and backs away. The incident was filmed on a mobile phone by one of several people stood outside.

In a Facebook post, management of the venue on Broad Street in the Lace Market, said: “This video is now over four weeks old. We were aware of the incident when it happened and we did not support the actions of the member of doorstaff in question.

“The matter was put into the hands of the police and we cooperated fully with their investigation. We also immediately reviewed the contract of our security supplier and terminated it with immediate effect.

“We now work with a new security company, who seem to be providing us with excellent service for our customers.”

It is not known why the man was being removed from the club, which is open Wednesday to Sunday nights.

The club statement added: “We know from experience that getting security right at any venue is difficult as security staff have to make split second decisions. We cannot promise we will always get it right.

“However, we will always do our utmost to ensure the safety of our customers. We have always, and will always investigate fully any incidents which fall short of our standards. We will take action where security team members fall short of the standards we expect. In short, we will do our best to ensure you are safe when you are in our care.”

Notts TV has contacted Notts Police for further details of the incident.
