Nottingham’s Hellfire Harlots roller derby team celebrate first double win

Nottingham’s top roller derby team are celebrating their first double win of 2015 after both the league’s A and B teams beat the Birmingham Blitz Dames on Saturday.

The double header win took place at Nottingham Trent University last weekend and has propelled the Hellfire Harlots A team up to 24th in Europe and 139th in the world.

Delivering the final score of Nottingham Hellfire Harlots A 203 – 100 Birmingham Blitz Dames A, the team are said to be in high spirits and hoping to break into the top 20 this year.

This is not the first time the two A teams have competed against each other following a tournament in Wales back in 2013, but the Birmingham Blitz Dames recently rocketed up the European rankings.

Both B teams have played each other before but the Harlots secured a win of Nottingham Hellfire Harlots B 176 – 166 Birmingham Blitz Dames B this time with some fancy footwork securing the last crucial points.

Head of Training, Jo Scott, said:

I am immensely proud of what both our A and B teams have achieved this weekend.

“These were two really tough games but all of our skaters remained focused and in control.

“Everyone’s hard work is paying off and with so many great games ahead of us this year, we have no plans to slow down.”
