Nottingham’s Monday Night Football cancelled due to bad weather

Nottingham’s football festival which was due to kick off tonight in Market Square has been postponed because of bad weather warnings.

Monday Night Football, which is part of Nottingham’s City of Football celebrations, is now set to begin on April 6.

It will feature skill games in which players can test their abilities, a gaming tent and human table football.

Nigel Cooke, Head of organisers One Nottingham, said: “Unfortunately we have had to cancel the event as there is a severe weather warning for wind and rain tonight.

“‘Monday Night Football’ will now begin next week and is an opportunity for people of all skill levels to come enjoy some football and be active.”

Nottingham beat 21 other cities to be crowned England’s City of Football and has received £1.6 million of National Lottery funding to promote participation in football over the next two years.
