Nottinghamshire A-Level results

The wait is over for thousands of sixth formers across the county as A-level results are released.

Indications so far are that the results on the whole are excellent.

The Joseph Whitaker School in Rainworth has achieved its best ever results with a 100% pass rate- 32% of all entries were A-A*.

Bilborough College has seen a 98.5% pass rate from its 904 students and 90% of grades at Nottingham Girls’ High School are C or above.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Girls’ Academy, which only has 37 students, has a 100% pass rate and at Trinity School, 45% of all grades are in the A*-B category.

At Nottingham Academy, students and staff are celebrating after 88 per cent of students achieved three or more A-levels or equivalent.

Principal David Tungate, said: “As always, I am extremely proud of our students. A large proportion come from under privileged backgrounds but they work hard and are supported brilliantly by our wonderful staff.”

“They are a credit to themselves, their families, this school and our community and I wish them all the very best in whatever they go onto next.”

New College Nottingham student Grace Shepherd has chosen not to go to university but has received the grades she needed to begin to build a career in health care.

“I may not be going to university in September, but as of the 7th of September I will be starting my apprenticeship working as a Health Care Assistant in A&E at QMC and I couldn’t be happier.” she said.

Councillor Sam Webster, Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio holder for Schools has congratulated the students on their success.

“To all our young people, whether you are going on to university, training or employment”, he said “we wish you every success with your future careers.”

“Nottingham is proud of you.”
