Doctors are on a Europe-wide donor search to help a Nottinghamshire boy diagnosed with a blood disorder so rare it affects only around five UK children.
Joshua Humberstone from Barnstone, near Langar, has been diagnosed with Evans Syndrome and needs a bone marrow transplant.
It’s so rare that little is known about the condition but the complications it causes, like severe internal bleeding, are life-threatening.
His family also say they have struggled to find specialist support because awareness of the syndrome is so low.
Both the British Bone Marrow Registry and Anthony Nolan Trust run bone marrow donor registration schemes.
