A Nuthall man has been tied up and reportedly threatened with a gun and a knife during a burglary at his home.
It happened at 2.30pm on Monday (October 23) in the Gunnersbury Way area when the victim heard a knock at his door.
He opened it to find two males who said they were there to make a delivery.
They forced their way into his home and bundled him into the living room where they tied him up by his wrists and ankles.
The offenders then searched his home, taking jewellery and watches, and also threatened the victim with what are believed to have been a gun and a knife.
The men left the property two or three times to a vehicle believed to have been parked outside.
It’s believed the victim was later tied up with belts as the offenders continued to search his home – eventually they took him into the kitchen and untied him before leaving the property.
Detective Constable Sarah Stables said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim in his own home.
“I’m appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed two people acting suspiciously to contact us as soon as possible on 101.
“The incident will be concerning to the close community and we would like to reassure them that we believe it to be isolated and have increased patrols in the area.”
Items stolen included a Gucci watch, a gift from his son, and a South African Krugerrand which he’d kept as an intended investment for his granddaughter.
Also taken were a gold Rolex watch, gold bracelet and sovereign rings.
One of the burglars was a white male who was wearing a grey hooded top and a fluorescent orange tabard.
The victim wasn’t able to give a description of the other man.
Anyone who witnessed the burglary or who has any information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 510 of October 23, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
