A Nottingham woman has been left heartbroken after burglars broke into her home and stole a collection of love letters from her late husband.
The letters, which date back to the 1960s before Joan and Alan Sadler were married, were stolen by two men who targeted Mrs Sadler’s property on Nottingham Road on Sunday, January 18 at around 12.20pm.
The pair also took her purse, containing cash and bank cards, as well as an antique silver cigarette case that was a treasured keep-sake that belonged to her parents.
Investigating officer, DC Carl Miller, of Nottinghamshire Police, said that the offenders have caused a lot of pain for little financial gain.
“I’d like to hope they have a conscience and hand the stolen property in at the nearest police station. If you are approached to buy a silver case matching this description, please contact us.” He added.
The two suspects are described as white, aged 16 to 18, of slim to medium build and around 5’8″ tall. One was wearing a grey tracksuit bottoms and a grey top, with a logo on the back and the hood pulled up. The other wore a grey top with the hood up, blue tracksuit bottoms and blue trainers.
Anybody with any information is being urged to contact police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously.
