A PCSO has been found guilty of two counts of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.

Daniel Childs, 30, based at Ollerton, has been convicted of sexual activity with a girl who was under the age of 16 between 2007 and 2008.

Childs joined Nottinghamshire police in 2007 but was suspended from duty after his arrest in 2013.

He was acquitted with five counts of sexual activity with a child under 16-years-old which related to two other victims and two counts of misconduct in a public office.

Daniel Childs will now be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Stephen Mitchel, Senior Human Resources Manager, said: “We expect all of our officers and staff to act with the highest professional standards and integrity this clearly includes Police Community Support Officers.

The public should rightly feel able to trust us and where this falls short, we will look to take action.

Stephen Mitchel, Senior HR Manager.

He added: “Childs did not display any of the values that we expect in Nottinghamshire Police, and preyed on an under age teenage girl for his own sexual gratification.

“He broke the law, and no one is above the law and committing offences while in a position of trust is inexcusable.”

Childs will be sentenced at Leicester Crown Court at a later date.
