Peregrine Falcon update: They’ve hatched!

The first eggs hatched on Sunday (23 April) and two more are expected to hatch soon, resulting in a total of four chicks.

Nottingham Trent University’s peregrine falcon chicks have hatched, becoming the first in the United Kingdom to do so in a monitored nest.

Kept on top of the Newton Building, chicks have been hatching for the past seven years, with 24 fledging successfully in that time.

The Peregrine is the largest falcon breeding in the UK and the species are the fastest animals on earth, reaching over 200 miles an hour while swooping on prey.

The university has a live camera where the development of the birds can be watched and that can be seen here.
