A pet cat found dead with a garden bag tied around its neck may have been strangled, RSCPA inspectors say.
The one-year-old black cat was found by his owner on the doorstep of their flat in Rathvale Court, Beeston on Wednesday morning (May 10).
A large bright green garden waste bag which had been rolled up was tied around his neck ‘like a bow tie’ the RSPCA said.
The owner has asked not to be identified.
Blood was also coming out of the cat’s mouth, society inspectors added, leading to them to fear he may have been strangled.
RSPCA inspector Sarah Gardner said: “We don’t know for certain how he died, however we are suspicious that he had this garden waste bag tied around his neck.
“We can’t rule out the fact that he may have been strangled with the bag.
“Given that he was a young and healthy cat, it is very odd indeed for him to have died suddenly and on the doorstep of his home, and it would be even odder for someone to tie a garden waste bag around the neck of a dead cat; a lot of things do not add up.”
