A Nottingham born photographer has created a book as homage to the 1960s film Saturday Night and Sunday Morning showing pictures of Nottingham then and now.
Ron Disney, 72, has made a book inspired by the film Saturday Night and Sunday Morning.
The book will show original still images from the movie which was mostly filmed in Nottinghamshire in the 1960s, next to current day photos that he took of the locations.
He said: “I thought this would be a marvellous idea to freeze frame around 20 images from the film and go back again to the exact location where the cinematographer shot the actual film and then I would recreate an image in 2014.”
The Savoy Cinema in Nottingham has agreed with Mr Disney to do a unique showing of the original film where he will also be selling over 300 copies of his book.
The film tells the story of a young Nottingham factory worker and is a kitchen sink drama echoing the experiences of many Nottingham people at the time.
Ron who lived in Nottinghamshire for 60 years, is distributing any money made from the books between two the British Film Institute and the National Animal Trust based in Leicester.
The point of the book will be memories of those people who lived in the area in 1960.

The photographer said you can clearly see the difference from areas like Market Square, the castle and where Alan Sillitoe used to live by looking at his photos next to the still images from the film.
He said: “It’s made me somewhat angry because you can see the destruction of the area because of manufacturing and the communities.”
Mr Disney has also been in touch with English actress and star of the film, Shirley Ann Field who played Doreen in the movie, who has promised to try her best to come to the screening at the Savoy Cinema.
The film will be shown at the Savoy Cinema on Derby Road in Nottingham on October 18 at 12pm.
