Nottinghamshire Police are attempting to trace a cyclist who may have witnessed the violent assault of a 59-year-old man in Newark.
The victim was walking down Lovers Lane at 8.10pm on Saturday, January 24 when he was punched from behind.
He then fell down, banged his head and broke his finger.
Police understand that a man on a bike then helped the victim back home to get medical attention.
Officers would now like to trace this potential witness and are asking anyone with information to contact them on 101, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously, quoting incident number 000839-24012015.
