Police investigating a sex attack near the Broadmarsh shopping centre have re-issued an appeal for witnesses.

Officers probing the report of a ‘serious sexual assault’ on a walkway off Maid Marian Way say they would like to talk to anyone who saw anything strange or suspicious in the area late on Sunday evening.

Detectives also revealed the victim is a 16-year-old girl.

Police cordoned off a large area, underneath a footbridge where Collin Street meets Maid Marian Way, and forensic specialists have been examining the area.

A force spokesman said enquiries were ongoing and added: “We would like to speak to anyone with any information or who saw anything in the area around that time.

“No arrests have been made.”

Anyone who can help is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
