Police name 21-year-old man who died in Balderton crash

Police have confirmed a 21-year-old man died after a two-car crash on Good Friday.

Emergency crews were called to Staple Lane, in Balderton, near Newark, just after 12am on April 14, where a Ford Focus and Volkswagen Passat had collided.

The driver of the Focus was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. He has been named as Francis Martell from Dry Doddington, Lincolnshire, who was known as Frank.

The driver of the Passat suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to Queens Medical Centre.

Police continue to appeal to anyone with any information to contact 101 quoting incident 3 of April 14.

They are particularly keen to speak to any drivers in the area at the time with dashcam footage.
