Police name St Ann’s knife attack victim as murder inquiry continues

A man who died after being found with knife injuries outside a shop in St Ann’s has been named as Reuben Morris-Laing.

The 21-year-old was found injured outside the Premier Express shop, on Robin Hood Street, just before 9.30pm on Wednesday night (March 22).

He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre but died as a result of his injuries.

Notts Police have increased patrols in St Ann’s to provide reassurance to residents, as a regional major crime unit continues a murder investigation.

The area around the shop on Robin Hood Street is still cordoned off.

In a statement, Notts Police “appealed for calm in the community” as they “work around the clock” on the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Hayley Williams, who is leading the investigation, said: “We would like residents in the area to know we are doing everything we can to make an arrest.”

Community leaders paid tribute to Mr Morris-Laing on Thursday, and the leader of Nottingham City Council called for tougher penalties for people caught carrying knives.
