Police officer faces gross misconduct hearing over racially motivated excessive force claim

A Nottinghamshire police officer is facing a gross misconduct hearing over claims he used racially-motivated excessive force on a member of the public.

The officer will appear before the hearing at Notts Police headquarters, Sherwood Lodge, Arnold on Monday (April 24).

The force announced the hearing and allegations on Wednesday, and said the hearing will be held in public.

The exact wording states: “The officer will answer allegations of gross misconduct with regard to breaching the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of his dealings with a member of the public, without justification he used unnecessary and/or excessive and/or disproportionate force against him which is alleged to have been racially motivated.”

No further details have been released ahead of the hearing.
