A power cut left more than 6,000 Nottingham homes without electricity and affected traffic signals and tram services.
Supplier Western Power Distribution said the outage began at around 4.55pm on Tuesday.
Many homes had services restored by 6.30pm but it took until 10pm to get everyone affected back on power.
Homes in the NG6 8, NG6 0, NG16 1, NG7 2, NG8 5, NG8 6, NG6 9, NG6 7 postcode areas were affected.
A spokesman for the company said: “We are sorry about the powercut in the Nottingham NG8 areas.”
A total of 6,142 properties were affected, the company said.

A large number of of traffic lights were also put out of action in the Aspley, Cinderhill, Nuthall and Whitemoor areas.
