Video: Thomas Lam on looking at Forest’s game and results
Nottingham Forest defender Thomas Lam has said that ‘everyone must be at their best’ if the Reds are to beat Barnsley on Friday (November 25) evening.
Chris Cohen is out for three months with Daniel Pinillos flying back to Barcelona to consult his surgeon with a knee problem; Britt Assombalonga and Eric Lichaj are doubtful to be fit for the clash.
However David Vaughan and Nicklas Bendtner returned to first team training with Mustapha Carayol improving his fitness after being named on the bench in the Reds’ last game.
Forest travel to Oakwell looking to kick on from their 2-0 win at Portman Road, Ipswich last Friday with the Reds also recording their first clean sheet of the season.
Defender Thomas Lam was a starter in last week’s win and says that the style of play in Holland is a lot different to that in the Championship.
You have to show on the pitch that you can play to your best
Lam said: “I want to have a starting position every time and the gaffer makes the decision but you have to show on the pitch that you can play to the best of your level.
“The Championship is a lot more physical than Holland and the temp is a lot higher but Holland is a bit more technical.
“You have to get used to it because it is a big difference but you have to change.”
Video: Philippe Montanier on injuries
Nottingham Forest manager Philippe Montanier has said that the mentality in the first team camp has remained the same despite the win against Ipswich.
He said: “Although we won, the squad keeps the same mentality and the same energy; sure we are more happy but you always have the same atmosphere in the room.
“We need more than one victory though and I’ve always got the feeling that the next game is the most important of the season.
“Barnsley have strong points and good qualities and we have to play at our best to beat them.”
