PREVIEW: Notts County will ‘go for it’ against Accrington Stanley says Sheridan

Video: Manager John Sheridan on ‘going for it’ against Accrington Stanley

Notts County manager John Sheridan has said that he is not afraid to ‘go for it’ as the Magpies host Accrington Stanley on Saturday (September 10).

Notts come into the game having not won at Meadow Lane in the Sky Bet League 2 this season.

However manager John Sheridan wants the players to go out with the belief that they can be a force at home and that a win will get the ball rolling for them.

I want us to be a force

He said: “Whoever we play at home, I’ll play an attack minded side and we’re going to go for it.

“It’s important that we try and win the game; I think we have the mentality about us but we haven’t proved it because we’re conceding goals.

“It’s making it a lot more harder than it should be but I want us to be a force at home.”

We could have easily scored in every game

John Sheridan thinks that a little bit of luck and staying ‘switched on’ in some of the past games could have made the difference.

“I’ve been quite pleased with how we’ve played because I think we are creating chances, which is a big plus for me.

“We could have easily scored in every game because the ones we haven’t, we’ve created chances [against Yeovil and Scunthorpe].

“You’ve got to be switched on and not leave yourselves vulnerable though for the sloppy goals we’ve been conceding.”
