Video: Magpies boss John Sheridan on ‘tough game’ at Barnet
Notts County manager John Sheridan has urged his side to ‘stand up’ as they face Barnet with another familiar face in the opposing dugout.
County will be looking to build on their superior away form on Saturday (November 26) when they travel to Barnet.
The Magpies are currently 5th in the away form chart with five wins out of eight away matches so far this season.
Mid-table Barnet are unbeaten in their last six league games with the Magpies having lost their last three games as they face former manager Martin Allen.
And County boss Sheridan wants The Magpies to ‘bounce back’ against The Bees.
He said: “I think we are capable of going on a winning four game run, I think we’ve showed that this season and usually we’ve always bounced back, unfortunately we are just in a little rut at the moment.
“Barnet are doing something right because they’re getting good results, they’re all workmen like they work hard, he’s got them playing a little bit of football there is a nice little pitch there so it will be a real tough game for us.
“They’ll look at us and he’ll know, probably looking at out weaknesses at this moment in time and they’ll feel it’s a really good time to play us so we’ve got to go there and stand up for ourselves.”
Video: Sheridan says County need to ‘sort it out’
Despite enjoying success on the road County have struggled at Meadow Lane this campaign as no win in five previous home games has seen them slump to 20th in the form table.
The oldest professional football club in the world have lost their last three home games and have slipped down the Football League 2 to 15th.
On Tuesday night County suffered a 1-0 defeat to Cambridge United as former Notts boss Shaun Derry made a return to Meadow Lane.
Sheridan says the recent performances have hurt him and let the fans down.
The fans are hurting, I’m hurting, the players are hurting
He said: “Performances have not merited us winning games we know as individuals and as a team we need to do a lot better.
“It hurts me losing, I don’t like losing one bit and I know it hurts a lot of people who come to watch us.
“If they see a performance where the players are putting a shift in the supporters will get behind us I’ve seen that.
“We had excellent support at Blackpool we let them down big time, I’m not making excuses, I’m not trying to get on the fans side by saying the right things, I know they’re hurting, I’m hurting, the players are hurting, we need to sort it out.”
