Notts Outlaws play Essex Eagles in their Natwest T20 Blast quarter final at Trent Bridge for a place at Finals Day.

The game gets underway at 6.30pm tonight (Monday August 8) with the Outlaws looking to extend their winning run in the competition to nine games in a row.

Finals Day is at Edgbaston in Birmingham where two semi-finals and the final all take place on the same day on Saturday August 20.

The Natwest T20 Blast is now the only competition that Notts can win and the director of cricket Mick Newell believes the players need to remember their success in this format.

Lots of different players have made big contributions

He said: “The players must carry on what they’re doing as we’ve won eight matches in a row.

“Lots of different players have made big contributions in the matches that we’ve played so far so if we can continue in that way, we have a good chance of winning.

“We have to respect Essex’s players but we have to turn up and play the best that we can play.”

We want to be here

Mick Newell also said that he can’t wait for the action to get underway tonight and is relishing the challenge.

He said: “It’s going to be a great night – it’s been a great day and I hope we’re going to win.

“We’re looking forward to it rather than having pressure upon us because we want to be here, we want to be in the knockout stages.

“It’s much better to be involved than not so we will enjoy it in that sense but obviously we have a desire to win.”
