Video: Manager John Sheridan rues the Mansfield result following Notts’ performance
Notts County manager John Sheridan says a win in their re-arranged match against Morecambe tomorrow (Tuesday October 11) is ‘important’ following their loss to rivals Mansfield.
The Magpies lost 3-1 away at local rivals Mansfield on Saturday (October 8) and Sheridan wants to see an immediate response from his players against Morecambe.
Notts’ game against Morecambe was abandoned at 0-0 after 10 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch after a storm moved over Meadow Lane.
I don’t think we’re a good enough team to think we’re going to win every week
Speaking about the loss to Mansfield, Sheridan said: “I don’t think we’re a good enough team to think we’re going to win every week because we will lose games from now until the end of the season.
“It’s important that I keep them focused and they’re a good group and you always like to come back with a win following a loss.
“We didn’t work hard enough to take control of the game which is the biggest downer because the game against Mansfield was there for the taking.”

However Sheridan thinks it’s not the end of the world if County do not win each fixture because of the competitiveness of League 2.
He said: “It’s a very evenly matched league – Plymouth obviously look very strong at the moment but teams in 12th, 14th place know a couple of results will get them around the play-off area.
“I just want us to stay in the mix and be as close as we can because the games come thick and fast.
“You’re probably looking at both teams to score if you;re a gambling man but it doesn’t matter as long as we pick up three points.”
