Private pension age debated

A committee of MPs say savers should be prevented from accessing private pensions until 60 year’s old.

Under the suggested proposal, women would have to wait until the age of 57 and men would have to wait until they are 60 to withdraw cash from their pensions.

Currently people are allowed to spend their pensions when they reach 55.

The Work and Pensions Committee say it “creates unrealistic expectations about the age at which people will be able to afford to stop work”.
