A Radford community group is hoping to change the lives of young people by helping them to avoid crime and gang disputes.
Moor Lionz is made up of local people, some of whom have been in both criminal gangs and prison.
Now they want to use the lessons they’ve learnt to prevent the current generation of young people getting involved in crime.
The group also provides people’s family and friends with support if they are dealing with the effects of gang-related problems, knife and gun crimes, imprisonment, abuse, bereavement and drug addiction.
It also works on prevention and organises community events.
Members hold educational sessions, run street outreach sessions, and teach young people music at a centre on Alfreton Road.
The group’s message is inspired by the violent disputes sometimes caused by postcode rivalries in Nottingham, and statistics which show knife crime is rising in the city.
