Rakeem Khan inquest: Death was an accident

An inquest into the death of Rakeem Khan who was killed after being hit by a car in Valley Road, says it was an accident.
Rakeem Khan died after being struck by a blue Renault Clio in 2014 on Valley Road in Carlton.
The driver of the car, Edward Pooler was 18 at the time and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but was later bailed by police.
Assistant Coroner, Heidi Connor delivered her conclusion which found that the collision was not deliberate as Mr Pooler didn’t have enough time to react after seeing Rakeem heading towards his car.
The inquest heard that there had been tension between Mr Khan’s group of friends and those of Mr Pooler, which involved a stolen bike and a debt of ten pounds.
The inquest deemed the tragic incident as a road traffic collision.
